The first Naga history ever wrote in Burma

This is the book that i wrote in 2009 mainly focus on the migration history the of Naga people and also briefly covering (generally talking) the migration history of the whole Naga people groups living in both sides of the border. In this book, there are 10 chapters with about (A4) 100 pages and is divided into two sections; the migration history and the traditional history (oral history).

Cover Page of the book
Actually, this is the first book ever written about Naga history in Burma/Myanmar. So, i design this in oder to provide some historical accounts on Naga issues relating to the history staff for students, government officials, and those who are interested about the Naga people and history. This is the first edition of the book and it is in Burmese as well. So, i am sure you will find interesting and worth reading it.

Life on Chindwin River

Food and Drinks vendors on Chindwin River
This is how the local people living along the Chindwin River (also known as Talawaddy) struggle for their life. Vendors and packed-rice sellers rushed toward the boat to sell food and snacks to the hungry passengers on the boat as the boat that i was taking from Monywa to Khamti approached to the bank of the Chindwin river at Kalaywa stop for breakfast. Silent bank of Kalaywa is now awaken by the voices and shouts from the people of different ages including kids and young ladies marketing their food and drinks for sale. I go for a can of Coke which cost me 900 kyats (about 1 $US) and a packed-rice for 800 kyats. As a passenger, you have two options to chose for your breakfast on this journey. You can buy food on the boat from the vendors or you can go out of the boat and eat at near by local restaurant on the bank. Whatever you chose, not a big different to the other.

Searching for Gold

A local person in Khamti finding gold in the stream
This is how the local Naga people find gold in the stream and valley which is the most incredible way of making money base on their traditional knowledge. This knowledge of finding gold has long been widely  applied by the people living in the northern part of Burma. However, no one knows how and when this tradition started. This tactic is only designed to earn extra money just enough to support the family in daily basic and basically the local people do this work as their second option for making money after the traditional cultivation work called "Taung Ya"

Once again on the Ledo Road (Stilwell Road)

Road to Naga Hills, on the Ledo road
Once again i was traveling to Naga Hills in northwestern Burma passing through the Hukaung Valley leading to Nanyun town which is a township center in nothern Naga Hills region. This road as you can see in the photo is the historic road built by an American General J.W.Stilwell in 1943 and used by the western allies forces during Second World War. This road known with three names; Ledo Road in Burma, Burma Road in China, and Stilwell Road internationally) has been the most important rout in supporting the then Chinese President Shian Kai Sheik and his armies fighting against the invading Japanese Armies and the Communist Armies under leadership of the great Mao Zedong (Mao Tse-Tung) of China. The road is 1079 miles (1736 km) long connecting Ledo of India, Shingbwiyan of Burma passing through Myitkyina, and Kunming of China. This road has also been the most crucial part for the development of the local Naga people and the Kachin people as well.

There are six major Naga tribes among Nagas which include Khemyungan Naga, Lainong Naga, Para Naga, Makuri Naga, Tangkhul Naga, and Tangshang Naga, all predominantly living in Burma.

Awesome shot on the Chindwin River

This is a snap shot i took during my trip to Khamti in northern Sagaing Division of Naga Hills region, Burma. I come across with this amazing scenery i have ever seen and it seems to me like some holy beings come down to earth from heaven.
